Profiles of Editorial Board Members

Toyin Akinosho is the publisher of the Africa Oil+Gas Report.He worked as a Petroleum Geologist for Chevron Nigeria Limited between July 1988 and February 2008, when he elected early retirement as Advisor, Joint Venture Relations. He continues to pursue a lifelong, dual career in Journalism and Earth Sciences.

Born in 1960, Toyin attended Baptist Academy, Lagos and bagged a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Ife in 1983. He covered the state house for The Guardian in 1985 and worked as the newspaper’s first Energy Reporter. In 1988, the year he joined Chevron, he became the Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).

Toyin created the column, Oil Watch in The Guardian in 1988. Between 1993 and 1999, he was the West African contributing editor for the Dallas based Offshore Magazine, published by Pennwell Publishing in the United States. In 1999, he became the West African correspondent for Vertical Net’s Oil and Gas Online. In 2001, he founded Africa Oil+Gas Report, a monthly trade journal that provides peerless perspective and insight on policy issues and technical innovation, back grounded by high quality energy intelligence.

In 2006, the Committee For Relevant Art (CORA), a culture advocacy group he created in 1991, won the Prince Claus Fond award for Culture and Development.

In 2007, Toyin won the CNN/Multichoice Africa Journalist Award in Economics and Business Category. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).

Prof. Abdulrahman A. Audu, is at the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, Bayero University, Kano., where he has been since 1984. He obtained his BSc. (Hons) degree in Chemistry from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1978 and did his postgraduate studies at the Department of Chemistry, Boston University, Massachusetts U.S.A. from 1980 – 1984. During this period he was awarded the Teaching Fellowship of the Boston University and also obtained his MSc. and Ph.D under the supervision of Prof Arno H. Heyn.

His research area is focused on environmental issues with special interest in water where he has published widely. He was the first to win the British Council sponsored project called the African Knowledge Transfer Partnership (AKTP) when it was launched in Nigeria in 2008.  It was a research program which was designed to solve an identified industry problem.

He has undertaken researches in oil and gas processes as these relate to environmental degradation which has been published in international journals. He is presently undertaking a research on the phytoremediation of industrially polluted sites at the Challawa Industrial Estate, Kano.

Professor Audu has wide experience in industrial processes and spent about five years at the Unilever Company, Oregun, Lagos where he rose from the post of Total Quality Manager to the Company Development Manager position. He also spent about three years at the NASCO Group in Jos where he served as the Group General Manager (Research and Develoopment) and later became the General Manager, NASCO Household Products Ltd, Jos.

Before his stint in the industry, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemistry, University of Lancaster, U. K. between 1989 – 1990 where he worked under Prof. C. J. Peacock. The fellowship was sponsored by the British Royal Society under the Nuffield Foundation.

In 2004, he was a visiting Scientist on Modern Analytical Instrumentation to the Department of Colour Science, the University of Leeds, U.K.

He is presently a visiting Professor to the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina. He is also the current Editor in Chief of the Chemsearch Journal which is an international journal in chemistry and chemistry related fields hosted by AJOL South Africa.

He is married with Children.

Dr. Maimuna Waziri is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry, Federal University Gashu’a, Yobe State, Nigeria. She has been conducting research and teaching Chemistry at University level for about two decades.

She was Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Yobe State University. Damaturu (2007-2015),  Director of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Damaturu. Yobe State (2001-2007), Special Assistant to the Governor of Yobe State on Industrial Development (1999-2001), Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Yobe State (1998-1999), Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Yobe State (1997-1998), Graduate Assistant to Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, University of Maiduguri (1988- 1997)

She holds the PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry from University of Maiduguri, nigeria (2007), MSc in Physical Chemistry from University of Ibadan, nigeria (1990), and BSc (Hons) Chemistry from Bayero University Kano (1986).

She has published research papers in national and international journals and currently involved full time in research and teaching.

Her awards and other achievements include Michael Collins Memorial Prize for the best part one Physical Chemistry Student (Bayero University, Kano 1984), Michael Collins Memorial Prize for the best graduating Chemistry Student (Bayero University, Kano 1986), and Professional Fellow, Chemical Society of Nigeria (2011).

Adedayo Ojo (Dayo) is a graduate of University of Ife. He holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan (1984) and a Diploma in Public Relations from London. Dayo is an alumnus of the Senior Management Programme, University of Michigan Business School, Detroit, United States, and Lagos Business School, Pan African University, Lagos, Nigeria.

He is a founder and the Chief Executive of Caritas Communications Limited, and he has over 30 years experience in the energy, oil & gas industry – in strategic issues, corporate communication and relationship management. As CEO of Caritas, Dayo has consulted on World Bank project and widely on oil & gas issues across the spectrum for indigenous companies, international oil companies and governments.

Prior to setting up Caritas Communications, Dayo worked for 15 years in ExxonMobil’s Nigerian affiliate, Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), where he retired in 2006 as a Senior Corporate Executive in charge of Government and Business Relations and Head of Abuja Office. He was one time Public Affairs Manager for MPN. In addition, he was the coordinator and lead responder for emergency and crisis communication for the African Upstream Operations of ExxonMobil covering Angola, Cameroon, Chad Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria. Between 2000 and 2002, He was Public Affairs Advisor at the headquarters of Exxon Mobil Corporation in Houston, Texas, USA.

In 2006, he was engaged to set up the Corporate Relations Department of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, where he was a Vice President.

Dayo was the Pioneer Secretary of the Commonwealth Journalists’ Association in Nigeria. He is member of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, (PRCAN), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and an Associate of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).

He enjoys golf and travelling during leisure time.

An alumnus of the University of Ibadan where she studied Communication Arts, and a holder of Bachelor of Arts degree. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma from the Times Journalism Institute. She started her career in 1985 as an Energy Correspondent for the Daily Times of Nigeria Plc. She covered all sectors of the Energy beat, travelled and  reported extensively on developments in the Oil, Power and Steel industries both nationally and internationally. She was later posted to the Features Department and was engaged in writing various human interest stories for the stable. She was also Editor, Poise magazine, a 32- page female oriented publication. In 1994, she was appointed a member of the Editorial Board of Daily Times, an appointment she held until her voluntary retirement in 1996.

Currently Omolola Olakunri publishes A- teen magazine for teenagers, and is also a consultant and contributor to various companies and institutions including Oats Global Energy Ltd, an Abuja based power and engineering firm; Korporate Bond Ltd,  a multi disciplinary communications and marketing firm and Media Options Ltd, publishers of Housing Circuit magazine. 

Her hobbies include writing, reading, cooking and photography.

Dr. Otive Igbuzor holds a first degree in Pharmacy, masters’ degrees in Public Administration and International Relations and a doctorate degree in Public Administration specializing in Policy Analysis. He is a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria. He is a Past President of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria and President of The Ejiro & Otive Igbuzor Foundation. In October, 2012, he was appointed by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki Moon to the UN Network of Men Leaders.

He is the Executive Director of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD). A past International Head of Campaigns of ActionAid International and Country Director of ActionAid Nigeria. He was Commissioner in the Police Service Commission (PSC) from 2008-2013.  Formerly the Programme Co-ordinator of Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), an independent research, information and training institution dedicated to policy oriented scholarship on questions of democratic development and peace building in the West African sub-region. He served as the Secretary of Citizens’ Forum for Constitutional Reform (CFCR), a coalition of civil society organizations committed to a process led and participatory approach to constitutional reform in Nigeria. Previously, he was a lecturer at the Delta State University, Lagos Centre and has published many scholarly articles on democracy, gender, politics and development. He is the author of books including Perspectives on Democracy and Development, Challenges of Development in Nigeria, Overcoming the Challenges of Transformation in Nigeria, Alternative Development Strategy for Nigeria, Political Succession in Nigeria, and Leadership and Empowerment in the Niger Delta.  He is the co-editor of the following books: Contentious Issues in the Review of the 1999 Constitution; A Citizens’ Approach to Making a People’s Constitution in Nigeria; Poverty Eradication in Nigeria: Perspectives on a Participatory and Pro-Poor Approach; and Can Nigeria achieve the MDGs in 2015?

Chief Sunday Adeyemi Dare is a Public Affairs and Community Relations Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Steve Alix Global Ltd. He is a pioneer member of the Editorial Boards of both Petroleum Training Journal (PTJ) and Petroleum Technology Development Journal (PTDJ). An erudite Public Speaker and a Public Relations Practitioner per excellence, Chief Adeyemi Dare was until February 2013 when he retired, a management staff of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He has delivered papers at several international, conferences and seminars and has a good number of publications to his credit. He initiated and executed several Community Relations projects in fulfilment of the corporate Social Responsibility of NNPC. He plays Golf and Table tennis actively.

Dulu Appah is Professor of Petroleum & Gas Engineering and Provost, College of Engineering, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, U.S.A. and previously occupied the Chi Ikoku Chair in Petroleum Engineering University of Port Harcourt. In that capacity he was responsible for investigation of Formation Damage. He was also Manager (Planning, Research & Statistics) at Petroleum Technology Development Fund.

He is a registered Engineer. His professional memberships include: Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), and Institute of Petroleum London. He is a consultant to the Consultancy, Research & Development Centre (CORDEC), University of Port-Harcourt and many petroleum companies in Nigeria, in Problem Wells Analyses. He conducts short courses on Sand Control and Well Stimulation.

His research interest include: Aerated Wellbore Sand Cleanout, Cement Slurry Design for HP/HT Wells, Fines Migration, Produced Water Management, Hydrate/Emulsion Control, and Artificial Lift Optimisation.

He studied Chemical Engineering in Russia obtaining his MSc and PhD degrees from Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Moscow, Russian Federation. He had experience at Moscow Oil Refinery, Oil and Gas University, Moscow and the Nigerian Embassy, Moscow. Dr. Mohammed-Dabo is presently an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria-Nigeria. He held various departmental and university positions. Currently, he is Head of Department of Chemical Engineering.

Dr. Mohammed-Dabo’s research areas include Petroleum refining and petrochemicals processing, Renewable energy, Environmental Pollution Control and Pilot Plant design and development. He has over 60 publications credited to him. He is a member of various national and international professional associations. He is a Registered Engineer with COREN (Nigeria). He was on the Editorial Board of Petroleum Training Journal and is a pioneer member of Petroleum Technology Development Journal.

Professor Abiola John Kehinde is a Registered Chemical Engineer. He teaches Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos, Nigeria where he has worked continuously since he graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1980 from the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada. He was Head of Department of Chemical Engineering University of Lagos from 2005 to 2010.

Professor Kehinde had industry experience with the West African Portland Cement Company at Ewekoro in 1971; and the Nigerian Petroleum Refining Company from 1972 to 1975. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Engineering Research of the University of Lagos; Journal of Oilfield Chemistry (published by the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS) in the University of Port-Harcourt). He was on the Editorial Board of Petroleum Training Journal and is a pioneer member of Petroleum Technology Development Journal.

Dr. Sam C. Onwudiwe holds a first degree in Surveying and a doctorate in Architecture. He served on the Editorial Board of Petroleum Training Journal and is a pioneer member of the Editorial Board of Petroleum Technology Development Journal.

His work experience include service in Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Credit and Commerce International, and Cariplo – Cassa del Respamio della Lombardia Milan, Italy. He was a Lecturer in Scuola Professionale (Professional –Technical -School) Milan, Italy, Consultant in Saipem SPA Milan, Italy, Head of HSE Training and later Chief Consultant Saipem Nigeria Ltd. He was also MD/CEO of ACT-SCAN Industrial Security Company Ltd, MD/CEO ACT-SCAN Procure Ltd, and Principal Consultant Currenters Nigeria Ltd. He is a Member Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

Trained as a geologist specialised in sedimentology/stratigraphy; also trained as a training consultant. He has had experience working as a civil servant, university teacher and oil industry practitioner. He served the Federal Government of Nigeria as a regional geologist and an Assistant Director responsible for scientific publications and training in the Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Mines, Power and Steel. He was also a part-time lecturer in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Jos, and University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He had oil industry experience in the Exploration Department of Shell Nigeria where he was initially in the regional team and later headed the stratigraphy section of the geology laboratory. He served as a Professor of Geoscience in the Shell Special Intensive Training Programme.

Professor Nwajide has published over fifty papers in edited books and international and local journals in areas of classical sedimentology, field geology, sequence stratigraphy, petroleum geology and environmental geology. He is author of the book Geology of Nigeria’s Sedimentary Basins (2013). He is a fellow of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), and the National Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE). He has also served on the editorial boards of the journals of these two professional bodies.

A graduate of Economics, Musa Rabiu is an experienced human resource management practitioner with particular focus in organisational development, learning and development, performance management, leadership development including coaching and mentoring. He is currently HR consultant to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation. He was the Registrar / CEO of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. Musa Rabiu is a Fellow and the Deputy Vice President of Institute of Business Development of Nigeria and Chairman, Continuing Education Committee, Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria (IMCON), Abuja chapter.

He has published several articles in academic journals on learning and development, human resources management and organizational change in the oil and gas industry.

Olorogun Edoreh Ejenavi Agbah, a former radio broadcaster, journalist and teacher is a pioneer member of both the Editorial Board of Petroleum Training Journal and Petroleum Technology Development Journal.

He is a former General Manager, Public Affairs at NNPC and former Executive Director and General Manager, External Relations, Brass LNG Limited. He is a respected Consultant in Energy Policy, Planning and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Olorogun Edoreh Agbah is a community man and a Justice of the Peace (JP). In recognition of his contribution to Community Development, he was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Ugbugba of Ughelli by the Ovie of Ughelli, His Royal Majesty, Oharisi III. He plays Golf and loves swimming.

Dr. Kevin I. Idehen is a pioneer member of the Editorial Boards of both Petroleum Training Journal (PTJ) and Petroleum Technology Development Journal (PTDJ). He was the Deputy Editor of PTJ and currently The Deputy Editor of PTDJ. He holds his first and second degrees in Industrial Chemistry and a PhD in Polymer Chemistry.

Dr. Kevin I. Idehen is the Acting Director of Engineering Department, Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Nigeria. He has authored several articles and papers in local and international journals. He serves as Consultant and Resource person to several corporate organizations in Nigeria including oil and gas companies, governments and local entrepreneurs. He plays Lawn Tennis.

Dr. Momodu Kassim-Momodu is the Founding Editor of both the Petroleum Training Journal and Petroleum Technology Development Journal. He is the Author of the book Glossary of Petroleum Industry Terms. He also co-authored (with Olaide Adigun) the book – General Principles of Law for Professional Examinations, sponsored and published by the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He has published academic journal articles, book chapters and case studies in Nigeria, The United Kingdom, Switzerland and the USA.

Until January 2007, he was a management staff of Chevron Corporation where he worked for 20 years in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He was before then a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, University of Lagos, where he researched into and taught Oil and Gas law, Nigerian Legal System, Jurisprudence and Public International Law for eight years. He is the founder of the Law Firm of Kassim-Momodu & Associates, with offices in Lagos and Benin City, Nigeria, and serves as Director in several private sector oil and gas, management consultancy, insurance, and civil construction firms. He is a Member Advisory Board, Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law at The Center for American and International Law, Plano, Texas, USA; and a Chartered Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, United Kingdom. He plays Squash Racket and Golf.
